The Baskerville crowned cream of the crop
at The Beautiful South Awards
The Baskerville has been awarded a coveted Silver in the category Tourism Pub of the Year at the Beautiful South Awards 2015.
Held at the iconic Grand Brighton Hotel on 2nd December, the presentation evening celebrated the fantastic visitor experiences available across the South and South East of England.
Established over 20 years ago, the Beautiful South Awards reward excellence, quality, innovation and customer service. As a recipient of this prestigious accolade The Baskerville is now invited to champion the South East at the national VisitEngland awards in 2016.
Commenting on the awards, Nigel Smith, CEO of Tourism South East said, “It was a fantastic evening at the Grand Hotel and a real privilege to be in the company of so many dedicated and passionate tourism businesses. The excellent quality of facilities, service and approach makes our role of promoting the South East so much easier and is one of the main reasons why we are one of the most popular UK tourist regions outside London.”
Kevin Hannah, Manager of The Baskerville added, “Given the quality of the entries we were up against, we are really chuffed to win this award. It is a testament to all the talent, dedication and hard work put in by our fantastic team every day of the year and follows hard on the heels of being placed second in The Traditional Pub category at the Oxfordshire Restaurant Awards last October.”
Baskerville Welcomes Yamazaki Whisky to its Growing Malts Selection
We now have a Japanese whiskey standing along side our Scottish, English, Irish and Welsh malts.
Yamazaki 25 Year Old was awarded "Best Japanese Single Malt" at the 2013 World Whisky Awards. Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2015 awarded Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 the title of World Whisky of the Year. We didin't think our customers' pockets would streach to this one even if we could get it but we have found a delightful 12 year old which we think will certainly impress. Road tested by the landlord first of course!
Yamazaki distillery is a Japanese whisky distillery located in Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Opened in 1923, and owned by Suntory, it was Japan's first commercial whisky distillery. Seven thousand bottles of unblended malt whisky are on display in its "Whisky Library"

The Baskerville was awarded its first AA rosette for the quality of its food following a recent unannouced visit by one of its London inspectors.
In the words of the AA, Rosettes are solely awarded by AA Hotel and Restaurant Inspectors. External influences from hotels, restaurants or other guides are not taken into account when awarding Rosettes.
These restaurants achieve standards that stand out in their local area. They serve food prepared with care, understanding and skill, using good quality ingredients. The same expectations apply to hotel restaurants, where guests can eat in with confidence and a sense of anticipation.
